TGIF

I’m over the shock of the protocol change it actually freed up my design skills and made me work on the <!–[if IE]> tag. Seo is all about rankings so if a page with nothing on it but hot pink text, no images, no code received the best results then that would be the best way to do it. Take every new situation as something new to learn and add under your belt to make you a better troubleshooter.
SEO

In the life of an SEO tech new challenges are presented daily. I finished 2 accounts one was a normal mlm and the other was a regular client account. For the first time the normal mlm was harder and took longer because trying to match the basic design of just a couple pictures and text to our templates proved to be a time consuming (yet fun) task. Where as the regular client account you copy the website not just a psd screenshot. How quickly things change.
New Protocol On Design
Author Saishu Hane | 25.06.2008 | Category SEO
Just yesterday we’re taking into account that we need to make the sites we make look more like the clients site. As technologically inclined people, this made our minds ache because some sites that clients originally have are just painful to look at. Like two sites I recently had touched. One for custom woodwork in Minnesota and another for Arizona electronic safe installation. For the client in Arizona, I’m actually proud of myself for being able to mimic it and deviate from the norm on how the format of the sites are. Really strangely proud. As you may or may not know, design counts for very little in terms of SEO. This is more to make the client happy. Too big of a deviation from their site may make them iffy about everything. Or even scared. So I guess if it makes the clients happy, it should be done.
Tone-Deaf

So, you’re working on content for a client like, say, “Luau Motors” (not actual name, but let’s run with it).
What sort of approach do you take? Do you go with a straightforward approach to your content, or do you try to go for something more lively?
When writing content for a client, always remember to keep their needs in mind. If they’re selling cars with a name like “Luau”, you might want to keep the language jumpy and energetic. If it’s a mortuary, it should be more serious and tender.
Bearing in mind what your client sells and how they push it themselves, you’ll always want to match that same tone in your own content. That way, you know that the client’s prospective customers, as well as the client themselves, will be happy with the work produced.
Keyword Link Issues
Author Jeffh | 23.06.2008 | Category SEO
I have been having problems with New prodjects where the keywords will not show up on the linking on the side of the page. Obviously I have not submitted these sites yet, and won’t until the keywords correctly populate. But, it is a very odd problem, in that some new prodjects that are newer than the ones I work on are propagating correctly. The website is a pretty decent money making website. I just wish it would work correctly so we can get some high rankings for them soon.
Back to Blogging

Today is my first time in a few months that I have blogged on here, so be forgiving. There have been some interesting things that i have learned about seo since the last blog. Most of the time i was gone i was running a rank checking program called Advanced Web Ranking (AWR). This thing sucked. It was java based so it was a constant pain in the …. oops sorry went alittle to far with that. But i was able to see how the work that i do here in seo pays off. The more work i put in a site the better the rankings it will have. Also proved the age old saying in seo “content is king” is actually true. I learned patterns of time+keyword rich content=HIGH RANKS. Well that’s it for right now talk to you next time around.
Focusing Your Paragraphs
Author samram | 19.06.2008 | Category SEO
If you want to keep your content flowing, try to avoid disorganization. The best way to do this is to focus on one or two keywords in each one (a primary, which you can use 3-5 times in that paragraph, and a secondary that you can use 1-2 times). If you want, you can select two or three back-up keywords for the paragraph.
This forces you to keep your paragraph on a certain point rather than trying to fit as many keywords as possible, and makes your content sound and look a lot cleaner. You’ll like it, your client will like it and his or her clients will be filled with “oohs” and “ahhs”.
Well, maybe not, but they’ll definitely noticed how clear and concise your writing is!
I Love Golf
Author Jeffh | 19.06.2008 | Category SEO
That is why working on this website was so much fun. Because I love golfing in Las Vegas. I got to check out, in depth all of the great golf courses that I will never be able to visit. Who, in the heck, would ever even consider paying more than $70 for a round of 18 holes. I mean come on. What are you rich people thinking? Come over to my backyard, I will charge half as much to hit balls into our neighbors windows. And that, in my opinion, is much more worth the money.
Just a Little Something
Author Saishu Hane | 19.06.2008 | Category SEO
Nothing really all that major to talk about I would think. So instead I’ll cover something I’ve been doing for quite a bit but I don’t think I’ve ever blogged about in my recent designs. A negative header image margin. Using a somewhat oversized header image, I can use the code:
#mainhead {
height: 290px;
text-align: center;
margin-left: -32px;
margin-top: -7px;
}
To margin the header image to match it up with the main div. An example of which can be found at a site concerning AIG insurance in Mesa which uses the same principle. With this you can make it look as though there are things coming out of the div and have the look to be jumping at you.
