CSS Tooltip Rollover

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Start with this

<a href="#">Title <span>Tooltip</span></a>
Anchor is given position:relative and span is placed absolute and
styled separately. We initially hide the span element and show it only
when user hovers the link (using a:hover span selector).

Here's the css:
a{
	z-index:10;
	}
a:hover{
	position:relative;
	z-index:100;
	}
a span{
	display:none;
	}
a:hover span{
	display:block;
	position:absolute;
	float:left;
	white-space:nowrap;
	top:-2.2em;
	left:.5em;
	background:#fffcd1;
	border:1px solid #444;
	color:#444;
	padding:1px 5px;
	z-index:10;
	}

A Brief Comparison between AP Style and SEO Writing (Pt. II)

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

So, in the last post I touched on the inherent similarities between AP style and SEO writing.  This time, it’s less AP structure and more of what the Associated Press wants you to look out for.

Relevant Keyword result in ineffective ranks

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

Came across some reworks today that are lacking ranks not due to content provided or lack of bold and bullets, but just the simple case of lack of effective keywords, or to put it too generic….keywords need to be very localized and very specific to the company and what they do….it is the biggest pitfall to MLM clients is the fact that all use the most generic keywords and nothing gets accomplished when you put millions of one word against each other, all that happens is a ban from Google….

I know that on MLM or basic generic companies like them it is impossible to gety away from ineffective keywords….but on local small company sites I believe we can do a better job of presenting them with the keywords that we know will help them ,not just what the want because if they knew exactly what it took then they would not need us now would they!!!

Keyword Woes

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

When the rework of a site promoting work from home online jobs Las Vegas, I noticed that half of their proposed keywords were just incredibly high in terms of competition. Keywords such as home business opportunity Wisconsin, online business work from home Texas and Platinum One Destinations had an incredibly high amount of competition. Well over two million to be more precise. Adding more content, there are still more ways we’re looking into helping the client gain ranks for the terms.

I know what you’re thinking.

“Hey, SamRam.  How will learning anything about AP style help me with SEO content writing?”

Scrollovers

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Scrollovers are a way to quickly and easily add flair to your web pages, giving your users an experience they weren’t expecting.

Integration of Scrollovers into your web site couldn’t be easier, even if you’ve already built the site that you want to include Scrollovers on. In just minutes you will be able to have them appearing on your own pages.

A major advantage of Scrollovers being created using standard HTML and Javascript is the option of applying CSS styling, just like you would on any other Hyperlink.

Knowledge is Power.

Friday, April 25th, 2008

I’ll tell you what, folks.  After writing content for so many companies and clients, you start to know a little about a lot.  I can officially tell you practically everything there is to know about real estate, insurance and where to get the best security for your buck in Arizona.

This is a key point to writing SEO content: Research.  It’d be embarrassing to write about something you know little to nothing about, so do your homework and double-check your facts before committing them to words.  Once you’re comfortable with the information you need to write your content about, then stamp out that nugget of info onto the keys.

Nothing’s worse than having a client come back and tell you that everything you wrote in their SEO content was wrong.

First Page Placements

Friday, April 25th, 2008

When working for a site for first page placements, I noticed that it was the former model and needed to be upgraded to further help the sites ranks. But simply replacing some files would completely destroy the site. Which of course is a bad thing. This is where it comes in great help to know the differences between any old and new designs that your company makes so you can make the appropriate teeny changes to help the rankings. It was too early to do rework on the search engine submissions so i left that aspect of it alone. Now USA SEO Pros can further show that they are the most affordable way to advertise online.
